The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce hosts 30th Annual Taste of the Town

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce's 30th Annual Taste of the Town presented by Buckalew Chevrolet, LP and The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau was held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center.

Taste of the Town is the premier culinary event of South Montgomery County attracting thousands of people from across state and beyond. Attendees sample appetizers, entrees, desserts, pastries, and beverages from some of the area's finest restaurants, caterers, bakeries, deli's and beverage companies.

Throughout the night, attendees enjoyed live entertainment from The Justin & Jeremy Band, purchased raffle tickets, voted for the 2016 Taste of the Town People’s Choice Award and sampled food and drink from over 45 different restaurants More than 120 other businesses showcased their company by being sponsor, serving food or donating raffle items.

In celebration of the event’s 30th anniversary, Taste of the Town gave back to the community by collecting non-perishable canned food items in partnership with Woodlands Church and distributed donations to local charities in need. A total of 10.5 tons (21,043 pounds) of food was donated.

A new addition to the 2016 event was the “Best of Taste” contest where local celebrity judges sampled and scored each booth on their dish. Among the celebrity judges included Roshni Gurnani, a Culinary Professor at the Art Institute of America in Houston. Gurnani was awarded the 2009 Chopped Champion on the hit Food Network show, Chopped, as well as a 2012 contestant on the FOX TV show Hell’s Kitchen with Michelin Star Chef Gordon Ramsey. Darby Douglas, KHOU Ch. 11 News Traffic Anchor and Atom Smasher, radio personality and host of the Morning Show on WoodlandsHits.com were also among the other celebrity judges.

The Winner of the 2016 Taste of The Town People’s Choice Award goes to Bob’s Steak & Chop House.
