THE WOODLANDS, Texas — This past year, Walmart - College Park employees and customers participated in a holiday program which generously gave from the heart and gave hope to foster children and families in the county by transforming Christmas trees into “Angel Trees.” The Angel Trees contained a “wish list” of desperately needed CPS items that Walmart customers could select, purchase and donate to the cause.

CPMC presents Walmart - College Park with Certificate of Appreciation

Walmart – College Park in The Woodlands area (located near the intersection of I-45 and SR-242) enthusiastically expressed their spirit of giving through this effort, collecting nearly $20,000 in donated goods.

These goods were collected centrally by the CPMC Rainbow Room, a program that provides new donated items (including but not limited to clothing, diapers, formula, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, food, toys, books, car seats, back packs, portable beds) for county caseworkers to use for the benefit of children in CPS care in Montgomery County. The Walmart-College Park donations were distributed to foster families and children in the CPS program during the holidays and also enabled CPS to store excess items as emergency supplies for use throughout the year.

“We were happy to show our support and extend the opportunity to our customers who care about Montgomery County, and most importantly, feel strongly about supporting children who need a little hope.” Joanna, Assistant Store Manager, Walmart-College Park, stated.

About Community Partners of Montgomery County
CPMC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that maintains the 'Rainbow Room' in the local CPS office in Conroe, TX. The Rainbow Room is stocked with new items for children ... such as clothing (infants through teens), diapers, baby formula, baby food, hygiene items, shoes, blankets, child safety items (car seats, safety gates, child proofing kits, temporary bedding, etc.), snacks, juice, books, stuffed animals, etc. These items are provided for the CPS caseworkers to use as needed in support of the children under their care. A recent initiative to prevent suffocation as a result of co-sleeping with an adult or older sibling is to provide a bed for every child in need of one. Over the past five years in the State of Texas there was an annual average of 166 such infant deaths due to co-sleeping.
