Jim Napolitano's experience qualifies him for Sheriff

As things change in this fast-paced world, the job of Sheriff becomes more and more important. For several reasons, it is clear to me, that there is only one candidate suited for the job and that is Jim Napolitano.

As I look forward, I have several concerns for my family, the people of Montgomery County and myself. First, the risk of an active shooter or a terrorist act is increasing significantly. We need a Sheriff who is trained to handle these types of circumstances and can train his force to be well prepared. Jim was in the Secret Service for more than 20 years. Over those years, he received countless hours of training, trained hundreds of officers and became the head of the Secret Service Counter Aggression Task Force. As head of this task force, he and his team trained with and trained the Army Special Forces unit Delta Force. Our Secret Service is tasked with exceptionally important and dangerous work all over the world. They are experts in procedures, processes and skills well beyond a typical law enforcement officer. To me, it’s a no brainer, if we have the chance to have a Sheriff with that level of training and skills, we need to elect him.

While working with Delta Force, he became very close with the unit commander, Col. Bernie McCabe, a true American hero. When Bernie retired from Delta Force, he became the head of security at Marathon Oil, a large international corporation. Soon after Bernie joined Marathon, as he puts it, “I stole Nappie from the Secret Service.”

Bernie understood the complex nature of protecting tens of thousands of employees all over the world and he knew Jim was the right man to lead those efforts. One morning a few years ago, I got an urgent call from Jim. He was in the middle of evacuating all of Marathons employees from Tripoli Libya. Marathon’s employees had seen some of our employees that were still at the international airport and he asked if he could help us get them out. He wasn’t just worried about his employees, he was worried about all people who were in harm’s. Many large corporations have moved to Montgomery and the surrounding area and having a Sheriff who has worked in the corporate world will prove to be very beneficial. Col. Bernie McCabe believed Jim was the right person for Marathon job and clearly believes he is the right person for Montgomery County Sheriff.

I’ve attended a couple of Jim’s campaign events and I’ve been very impressed with the people who get up and endorse him for Sheriff. I’ve seen people of deep conviction all speaking about integrity, honor and professionalism. Navy Seals, FBI agents, local law enforcement, Delta Force Commanders and citizens like Chuck Norris. These people who care deeply about law enforcement, our neighborhood, god and country have all come out to endorse him. Jim Napolitano is not the favorite of the local political elite. He hasn’t received the large donations from the good old boy network who want to see the status quo maintained. Jim is an independent man of integrity, honesty, and patriotism who would be a fantastic Sheriff for Montgomery and I urge all citizens of our county to get out and vote for Jim Napolitano. There is not a more important race in the entire country for us Montgomery citizens.
