THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel for the American Center of Law and Justice, brought the crowd to its feet at the Pregnancy Assistance Center North (PACN) Fundraising Banquet on Friday, March 4. Hosted at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott and Convention Center, almost 800 people were in attendance for an inspiring and informative evening.

“We live in challenging times. With Super Tuesday behind us and a presidential election upon us, Americans are asking tough questions of our country’s leaders,” stated Cindy Sunday Powell, PACN Executive Director. “We felt that Jay Sekulow could shed light on some of these pressing issues and offer wisdom and insight for those attending our banquet. He is dedicated to the same causes and issues that are important to both our clients and our organization.”

And shed light he did.

With a rousing speech entitled, “Reporting for Duty,” Sekulow inspired the crowd to roll-up their sleeves, get to work and advocate for important issues concerning life. Whether locally, state-wide or nationally, Sekulow remarked that we can no longer give nor concede ground on life issues.

“The stakes for life are high. We are on the brink of electing a new president as well as the appointment of a new Supreme Court Justice but no matter what the results, places like PACN will still be around,” Sekulow stated. “These places are not dependent upon the political climate but continually focused on life. My dream is that the work of PACN would multiple so many times over, that every woman in Montgomery County experiencing an unplanned pregnancy would have an ally.”

A special part of the night included greetings from Governor Greg Abbott which highlighted the work of PACN and the challenge to continue its mission of reaching and educating women and men facing an unplanned pregnancy or sexual health issue. In addition, Texas Department of Transportation Commissioner, Jeff Moseley, emceed the event and recognized special guests in attendance, Congressman Kevin Brady and Oak Ridge North Mayor Jim Kuykendall.

2016 was a year of impact for PACN as Karen Gould, Spring/Woodlands Center Director shared. Over 6,400 client-visits were reported, 70% of clients were referred and 83% of women at-risk for choosing abortion chose life for their child. PACN was also an intern site for nursing students from Houston Community College of Health Sciences as well as for counseling students from Sam Houston State University and Liberty University. On a national level, PACN was able to assist with the marketing and administrative efforts for the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists Conference (AAPLOG) held at the Marriott Medical Center in downtown Houston.

“In my 25 years of working with PACN, I am proud to report that we remain strong in community and donor support,” said Powell. “We will continue to meet the physical, emotional and material needs of women and men through no-cost medical care and educational classes. Through this, we can strengthen and equip each client to live a stronger, healthier life for generations to come.”
