THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Woodlands Children's Museum will make its annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration even bigger and better this year.

“We decided to extend the party – and spend more time feting Mexican heritage and culture at the museum,” Angela Colton, executive director of the museum, said.

The fiesta begins with special art projects and themed story times from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 5. And the fun continues at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 6, with the Brave Little Company performing Bravo, Chico Canta! Bravo based on the book by Pat Mora and Libby Martinez.

“In the book, Chico and his mouse family live inside the walls of the old theater,” Colton said. “The Cantas love to make music, put on plays with their friends and speak many languages. Their only worry is keeping everyone safe from Gato-Gatito, the theater cat.”

This 45-minute bilingual performance will get the audience involved – and showcase the power of languages and music, she added.

Both events are included in the cost of admission, which is $6 per person 1 year and older. Activities are designed for ages 7 years and under. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. The museum is located at 4775 W. Panther Creek Drive, Suite 280.
