THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital and The Woodlands® Development Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Howard Hughes Corporation®, are hosting “Suicide, A Community’s Response” on Wednesday, May 4 from 6:30 – 8:30pm at The Woodlands United Methodist Church – Harvest Location. Kevin Hines is the keynote speaker.

Topics include: Individuals at Risk; Warning Signs and Prevention; What’s Happening Behind the Curtain in Montgomery County; Social Media and Suicide; Parent Testimonials; and Steps to Healing and Recovery. Interact with community resource professionals following the program. This free program will address both students and adults.

Kevin Hines is an award-winning global speaker, bestselling author, documentary filmmaker, suicide prevention and mental health advocate who reaches audiences with his story of an unlikely survival and his strong will to live. Two years after he was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, he attempted to take his life by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge.

Hines believes in the power of the human spirit and in the fact that you can find the ability to live mentally well. His mantra: “Life is a gift, that is why they call it the present. Cherish it always.”

Additional speakers include Theresa Fawvor, LCSW, CPHQ, CPHRM, Associate Vice President, Memorial Hermann Behavioral Health Services; the Honorable Edie Connelly and the Honorable Wayne Mack, Justices of the Peace; Kim Hess and David James, parents; and Denise Zimmermann, Prevention Services Coordinator.
