IRVING, Texas — A Woodlands resident claimed best in show at the Reception & Awards Ceremony for the 31st Texas & Neighbors Regional Art Exhibition presented by Irving Arts Center and the Irving Art Association this past weekend.

Best of Show was awarded to artist Jesse Lane, a 25-year-old from The Woodlands for “Echoes,” a large work in colored pencil. The exhibition was juried by renowned watercolorist Soon Y Warren. Nearly 500 works of art were submitted by approximately 200 artists residing in Texas and the surrounding states of Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas and New Mexico. From those entries, 80 were selected to be exhibited in the Main Gallery at Irving Arts Center, free to view through May 14, 2016. In total, over $9,000 in cash was awarded in five media categories to 22 artists.

“It is truly a blessing for us to be able to provide a venue for artists in the state Texas and the five neighboring states to express their creativity and artistic ability,” states the Irving Art Association Exhibits Committee (Linda Shotwell, Sharon Giles, and Mark Thompson). “We have fallen in love with this event and continue to be impressed and awed by the talent and beauty displayed each year.”
