THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The John Cooper School Girls' Middle School Softball team won the 2016 Houston Junior Preparatory Conference (HJPC) championship held in April.

This is an amateur team with a lot of heart and I'm excited to see their skill sets continue to improve in the years to come!

The Dragons won the opening game, 10-0, against St. John's, the number four seed. Next up was undefeated Second Baptist, the number one seed, and the Dragons came out on top, 3-1. For the championship, the Dragons beat Annunciation Orthodox School (AOS), 4-1.

"It's exciting to see a team with so much charisma, on and off the field, come together to work so hard and have so much fun and get the results that they did," said Paige Peterson, assistant coach for Cooper. "This is an amateur team with a lot of heart and I'm excited to see their skill sets continue to improve in the years to come!"

"I'm very proud to have shared in some of these great accomplishments such as placing runner up in the Greater Houston Junior High School (GHJHS) Tournament and being named Champions of the HJPC tournament to wrap up the season," said Cooper Pitching and Catching Coach Matt Sanchez.
