THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The death of a woman whose body was found in a swimming pool in The Woodlands, is being ruled an apparent suicide pending forensics investigation.

According to Lt. Brady Fitzgerald of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the husband found his wife floating in the swimming pool when he returned home from work, and pulled her from the pool. Originally it was believed to be a drowning accident, but a handgun was found at the scene and the victim had evidence of a gunshot wound to the head.

The incident occurred in the 2800 block of Timberloch Drive in the East Shore subdivision, just west of the business district in The Woodlands.

“The woman’s body was transported to the forensics center for investigation, so it doesn’t mean the final ruling is going to be a suicide, but at this time, that’s what it appears to be,” said Lt. Fitzgerald.

The case is still under investigation pending the results of the forensics. The woman’s name has not yet been released.
