Four Cooper athletes sign to compete in college

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The John Cooper School Athletic Department held a signing ceremony on May 13 to recognize four senior athletes who will be competing at the college level in the fall. Parents, faculty, coaches and teammates joined Interim Athletic Director Scott Holland to honor the student athletes who will be competing in baseball, swimming, softball and cheerleading.

“We are very proud of these athletes and their accomplishments at Cooper and look forward to following their college athletic careers,” said Holland. Cross Austin will play baseball at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville and plans to pursue a degree in business management. Carolyn Covington will cheer at the University of Miami in Florida and study neuroscience and psychology. A National Merit Commended Scholar, Sydney Shannon has committed to swim for the University of Rochester in New York, where she will major in biomedical engineering. National Merit Finalist Taylor Sloop, will represent Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California on the softball field as she studies engineering and dance.
