THE WOODLANDS, Texas — Despite high temperatures, both supporters and protestors alike waited for hours outside of The Waterway Mariott in hopes of taking part in a rally for Donald J. Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee.

A key part of Trump’s platform has been immigration, a huge political issue for the border state of Texas. This made it no shock that immigration one of the first issues addressed at yesterday’s rally.

“Just a few week ago I got the endorsement of 16,500 border patrol agents,” Trump said. “This is the first time they have ever endorsed a presidential candidate.”

In addition to immigration, Trump also addressed another issue important to many Texas voters—gun control. He specifically mentioned how the practice of the second amendment at the Pulse nightclub during the recent terror attack could have made a difference.

“If some of those wonderful people had guns strapped to their waist or strapped to their ankle.. and one of the people..goes 'boom, boom,' that would have been a beautiful, beautiful sight, so don't let them take their guns away.” Trump said. “We’re going to save your second amendment.”

Another critical topic for this election has been the open Supreme Court seat and the other potential vacancies that may open up during the incoming president’s term. Trump did not shy away from addressing this.

“I will pick great, smart, brilliant, conservative, intellects,” Trump said. “We have to pick great justices for the Supreme Court, or we will not have a country anymore.”
