SPRING, Texas - All that glitters is gold for World Champion gymnast Simone Biles. The most decorated American female gymnast in World Championships history is literally the girl next door. Simone Biles of Spring, Texas, won a fourth consecutive national title Sunday evening, and is the favorite to medal on all five of the women’s gymnastics apparatus, thus taking the All-Around title at the upcoming 2016 Olympics in August. (Only one other woman, Joan Moore Gnat, won four titles, 1971-74, but shared the title in '71 & '72.)

If Biles were to wear all the gymnastics medals she has accumulated in just the past three years over her heart like military commanders, she would surely list to the port side. The medal count includes ten gold, two silver, and two bronze...holding the record for most gold medals won by a female gymnast in the history of the World Championships.

Biles has all but secured a lock for a spot on the women's American gymnastic team that will go to the Games in Rio de Janeiro, by winning the national title. Biles led the field at the national championships with a final score of 125 points. The second place finisher, Aly Raisman, was 3.9 points behind. See additional photo for all the final scores. Competing at the Finals in a couple of weeks will be primarily a formality. The finals will take place in San Jose, CA, and will determine the five women and two alternates who will represent the USA.

Look to see Biles become the darling of the games when she takes the Brazilian crowd by storm with her spicy salsa floor routine performed to the music from the film “Rio.” Biles will showcase Samba steps in addition to intricate gymnastic movements, and tumbling runs with the highest degree of difficulty.

“The reaction of the public plays a very important role. It gives us an adrenaline boost, especially when people start to shout and clap their hands in time with the music. That really helps us to go on,” Biles is reported as saying.

See Simone’s amazing floor routine in this video.

Opening Ceremony of the XXXI Olympiad Games is August 6. Biles is expected to bring home the gold, and lots of it. For this gymnast, all that glitters is gold.
