The widely popular Ice Age franchise began in 2002 with its debut film of the series. Throughout the years the franchise has released four films. Fast forward fourteen years later, and the fifth installment is given "Ice Age: Collision Course."

The main characters have to find a way to survive a deadly asteroid plummeting towards earth. Throughout the film, they are challenged with many obstacles they must overcome, both internal and external. Once they overcome these obstacles, they find themselves happy and self-fulfilled. The main characters accompanied with some familiar faces embark on a dangerous journey. That is the only chance they have for survival.

The creativity and content put into the film is highly entertaining. Fans who have watched the previous films know that each character has a distinctive, unique personality. The use and mix of these personalities makes the film all the more enjoyable. There’s a wide variety of characters that people can relate to and feel a sense of familiarity that makes an animated character lifelike. It draws the audience into the film yearning for more, which may be why the franchise is on its fifth installment. Uniquely designed prehistoric characters mixed with hilarious comedic timing has been a central focus in all the Ice Age films. This one is no different. The writers know how to continuously add new comedy, while evolving the characters and captivating the audience.

Fans who have watched from the beginning have probably noticed that as the films progress, the animation becomes significantly stronger. As technology continually innovates, the world the film industry is always at the forefront showcasing new improvements. The animation style is strengthened with each new Ice Age film. The characters' qualities and expressions are given a more realistic feel, which is something that has to be emphasized in animated films since imagination is crucial. From 2002 to 2016, technology has come a long way and Ice Age has displayed this progression brilliantly.

"Ice Age: Collision Course" is a great, family movie. The film is entertaining for all audience ages. It has a broad range of comedy that will be laughable from little kids to adults. This film is highly recommended because it is able to incorporate so many creative ideas into a hilarious animated comedy.
