THE WOODLANDS, Texas - “I enthusiastically agree that we need to be proactive in planning for our future governance,” John A. Brown, candidate for The Woodlands Township Board of Directors, position three, said.

Gordy Bunch, who is running for reelection at position one, called for The Woodlands to step up its efforts to become a city when he filed for the office this week. Brown said if elected, he would join forces with Gordy Bunch and other like-minded directors, in escalating due diligence to prepare the community for a vote on incorporation. He said the insistence by some to maintain the status quo and quote an outdated study are “nothing more than barriers stalling our self-governance and our rebirth as a great Texas city.”

Brown said his plan of service as a Township director promises that he will deliver on behalf of Woodlands’ residents.

“We can’t procrastinate any longer,” Brown says. Brown, who was a volunteer of the year nominee on the Alden Bridge Village Association board, feels that his daily function as Facilities Supervisor at Huntsman International’s headquarters here has prepared him to be a leader in the process of establishing the City of The Woodlands.

Brown says truly successful companies, organizations, and communities practice self- governance on a daily basis.

“Being in control of your own destiny and operations saves you money, functions more efficiently, and when employees or residents are the boss, everything works better. He also believes that incorporation will deliver improvements and results faster without the intrusions imposed by the county or developers. “We need to be in charge of our own destiny for the sake of our families, seniors, children, and service organizations,” he said, “We want to fully enjoy the feeling of 24-hour security and public safety with a police force and city departments that are responsible to the residents, not politicians. Our quality of life is deteriorating as commercial profit- taking has overtaken the founders’ concept that The Woodlands honors nature, family values, and quality of life.”
