The Tigers opened the game with a touchdown by Player of the Game Donaven Lloyd and started off with the lead. Cy-Springs had a quick possession and punted the ball, but Conroe fumbled the punt, and it was recovered by Cy-Springs and was followed by a touchdown, tying the game 7-7.

The Tigers immediately returned with a 91-yard touchdown by Jo’Vaughn Martin, putting Conroe back in the lead. With less than a minute left in the first quarter, Cy-Springs scored another touchdown, but a lightning strike brought a 30-minute delay before the extra point. Returning to the field after the delay was cleared, Cy-Springs finished the quarter with a kick and tied the game 14-14.

Conroe scored a touchdown within the first minute of the second quarter, but the neck-and-neck battle continued as Cy-Springs once again caught back up. The extra point was no good, giving Conroe a one point lead, 21-20.

A Tiger fumble recovered by the Panthers brought in another touchdown for Cy-Springs, and Conroe lost their lead with a new score of 26-21, Panthers. Later in the quarter, an intended Panther touchdown pass was intercepted by the Tigers. With under 30 seconds left in the half, Conroe scored a touchdown and took back their lead, 28-26, ending the half.

The third quarter was a slow one until the Panthers stepped back into the lead after a touchdown and a two-point conversion, bringing the score to 34-28. With four seconds remaining in the quarter, the Panthers scored again with a failed two-point conversion attempt. End-of-quarter score was 40-28.

Conroe’s Donaven Lloyd started the final quarter of the game with a big rush down the field for a first down and then his fourth touchdown of the night. The two-point conversion attempt was no good. Cy-Springs still held the lead 40-34. Cy-Springs stayed on top of the Tigers with another touchdown and two-point conversion.

A big touchdown pass for the Panthers widened the gap and put Cy-Springs even further ahead, 55-34. This didn’t stop Conroe’s Jo’Vaughn Martin from making another big Tiger rush for a touchdown, and brought them to their final score of 55-42.

Conroe High School will take on Klein Forest on Tiger territory at Buddy Moorhead Stadium Friday, September 2 at 7 p.m.
