During the development of Hughes Landing, he simultaneously managed project teams for retail (Retail Row and Restaurant Row), multifamily (One Lakes Edge®), hospitality (Embassy Suites by Hilton) and public amenities (Lakes Edge Boathouse, public art, Hughes Landing Dog Park).

Creekside Park® Village Green in The Woodlands and Lakeland Village® Center in Bridgeland are some of Carman’s other most recent projects.

“Jim is a leader," said Peter Doyle, executive vice president of development. "He leads from the front and keeps a positive outlook while encouraging his teams to overcome challenges and obstacles. He also encourages team members to bring new and innovative ideas to the table when planning projects and solving issues that arise during the process. Jim has adopted The Howard Hughes Corporation’s mantra to ‘Make Extraordinary’ and creates innovative projects.”

Carman is active in a number of local organizations including Education for Tomorrow Alliance (EfTA) and March of Dimes. In addition, he is part of the Class of 2017 for Leadership Montgomery County.

“I love to lead teams as we take projects from dream to reality,” Carman said. “I come to work every day not knowing what challenges may get in our way but am comfortable that we can overcome them all. I’m addicted to that feeling and hope it never goes away.”
