Top-flight sandwich has 'stomach appeal'

Ahhh...life in the Woodlands can be pretty sweet. Ignore the oppressive Texas heat (go ahead, try!) and the amenities, activities, and community life lead to a lot of great opportunities for fun.

Take Concert Night for example. Since we moved here we've been able to take advantage of the great music this area offers, but this also means we typically get a chance to get out for a pre-concert meal and cocktails. Our ritual starts out at Market Street, then we head over to the Cynthia Woods Pavilion. So close, so easy. And that leads us to Tommy Bahama, a place where I've had a few very good sandwiches in the past, so I decided to share one with ya'll, because I'm that kinda guy.

But as a bonus recommendation, I'd be remiss if I didn't tell you about an amazing appetizer - a MUST if you're a fan of goat cheese (my regular readers know I'm a cheese-guy through and through). It's their Macadamia Crusted Goat Cheese and it's amazing!! The perfect palate cleanse for a top-flight sandwich (that is sandwich snob talk for "gets you ready for the grub").

As always, my eyes (I have two so there is rationale for this) generally find two sandwiches with "stomach appeal." In this case, I was feeling the Cuban and the House Roasted Pork Sandwich. So I asked our waiter, Rob, for his preference and he recommended the pork sandwich with Blackberry Brandy BBQ sauce on the side. It's really sweet so adding it to suit each eater's needs was a great recommendation. The roasted pork was cooked to perfection and the sandwich comes with Island Coleslaw and tons of crispy onions on top. It may feel as if the sandwich would be too unwieldy at this point -- too loaded up with goodness, but that wasn't the case at all. Somehow, this culinary sandwich experiment manages to hold itself together and just taste really good. And because this is a pretty big sandwich, you won't leave hungry. I'll definitely be back for another. And of course, there is still the matter of sampling the Cuban.

See you next time and bring a napkin.
