Making a Mark at The Woodlands Children's Museum

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Woodlands Children’s Museum is hosting a unique art display this fall.

In October and November, the museum, located at 4775 W. Panther Creek Drive, Suite 280, will showcase “Making A Mark,” a touring collection of art and writings by children whose lives have been changed by cancer and blood disorders.

The exhibit is presented by the Periwinkle Foundation, a Houston nonprofit that provides programs to benefit children diagnosed with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

The pieces featured in the show all have been created by young patients at Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Centers or their siblings.

The Woodlands Children’s Museum hosted one “Making A Mark” exhibit in January – and now a whole new batch of art is on display.

“We are honored to host another ‘Making A Mark’ exhibit,” Angela Colton, the museum’s executive director, said. “This show is a reminder of how the arts can play a vital part in the healing process. We are proud to celebrate these young artists and writers.”

Part of the project includes the “Postcards from the Road” program in which viewers of the exhibit are invited to write a postcard to the artists. The Periwinkle Foundation will mail each postcard to the young artists to let them know the feelings and thoughts their works have inspired in others.
