THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Can any team prevent The Woodlands High School from achieving regular- season perfection?

Find out tonight at 7:30 p.m. as the Highlanders host the Montgomery Bears at Woodforest Bank Stadium.

Montgomery comes into the game with momentum and incentive. The momentum is from a three- game winning streak. The incentive is to seize a piece of the conference title; The Woodlands is 4-0 in District while the Bears are 3-1.

If the Bears want to pull off the upset, their defense will need to find a way to contain, or at least slow down, the Highlander’s three-headed offensive monster – quarterback Eric Schmid, running back Jordan Talford and wide receiver Kesean Carter. Together they have helped The Woodlands score 40 or more points in their last five games.

Carter caught two touchdown passes last week to boost his season total to 10. He has nearly 700 yards receiving and averages more than 23 yards per catch.

Schmid has been perforating defenses with his accuracy all season. He has thrown for more than 1,600 yards and 23 touchdowns against only one interception.

Talford has churned out 550 rushing yards and has a nose for the end zone with eight rushing touchdowns.

Montgomery quarterback Jordan Hood has thrown for 1,200 yards and nine touchdowns, and he’s run the ball into the end zone 10 times, gaining nearly 500 yards.
