THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- You may have noticed a few traffic changes around The Woodlands, perhaps most notably a bridge expansion on Kuykendahl that had previously stalled due to funding.

"Rapid population growth throughout South Montgomery County demands the constant development and improvement of infrastructure," said Montgomery County Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack.

Here's the latest.

Kuykendahl Road: This project will widen the bridge over the Montgomery and Harris County lines at Spring Creek from two to four lanes, opening an additional lane in each direction. Estimated completion date is late July 2017.

Rayford Road: Expansion includes widening the current four lanes to six lanes from the Union Pacific train tacks through Riley Fuzzel. An overpass will also be built across the rail crossing. Construction is set to begin early 2017. "Enhancing mobility and safety along Rayford Road is a top priority," Noack said.

I-45 northbound: A 16-mile HOV lane connecting Spring to Conroe is officially open. "We believe this will enhance mobility for all who travel this sector of I-45 during peak traffic times," Noack said.
