The Cav’s third possession started off with nice return to the 25-yard line. Tucker Woody, Joseph Brooks and Turnquest took turns moving the ball on the ground. But on third down, the Tigers’ Jordan Woodard intercepted a tipped pass and raced 40 yards down the sideline for a touchdown. The Tigers’ missed their second extra-point conversion of the night, and the score was 12-0.

The Cavs started on the 7 after a Chase Lane return was brought back because of a holding penalty. Woody, Turnquest and Brooks again ran for another first down. But Turnquest was dropped for a 4-yard loss on a third down, forcing a punt.

The Cavs' defense came out charged, only down 12-0. They allowed a tough three down first down, then held and forced a punt. The offense started with their best field position of the game on the 35 and got a first down, but the drive faltered. The punt was returned 82 yards for a touchdown by Tiger Kolby Peel but brought back on a holding penalty. Tiger quarterback Cade Williams’ knee touched the turf, but the 20-yard catch and run was ruled a completion.

The Cavs forced a punt and almost got the ball at midfield but an offside penalty gave the Tigers the ball back. Franklin then broke tackles and ran for 70 yards to the 5. Quarterback Williams hit the sideline and scored. The Tigers finally made an extra point for a 19-0 lead with 4 minutes to go in the half.

The Cavs got a first down, and then on a third down Turnquest ran up the middle and fumbled, flipping airborne and landing on his head. The Tigers then marched down the field using quarterback keepers for 12 yards and a fourth down scramble for more than 20 yards to the 15-yard line. Newton pounded the ball into the end zone on three plays, the last a 1-yard touchdown plunge. The extra point made it 26-0 with seconds left in the half.

The Cavs’ offense started the second half with a three and out. From their 26, the Tigers’ Burl Carraway went around the end for 25 yards. Franklin added a 25-yard run. A few plays later, quarterback Cade Williams hit a wide open Tony Williams for a 30-yard touchdown. After a false start, the Tigers converted an extra point to lead 33-0.

The Cavs’ offense went three and out. The Tigers muffed the punt at the 44-yard line and the defense would not quit. After a loss and a muffed snap, the Tiger quarterback threw an interception to Cooper Lucus. The Cavs marched down the field using Woody, who capped the drive with a 12-yard scamper that included a great spin move. The extra point made it 33-7.

The kickoff appeared to be touched by Tyon Merchant, who was tackled running out of the end zone for what appeared to be a safety. The referee’s call was touchback. The Cavs’ defense played tough and forced a punt. But the offense faltered again and a bad punt snap over the punter’s head gave the Tigers the ball on the Cavs’ 10. Again the defense held firm, and the Tigers settled for a 22-yard field goal that missed.

The teams exchanged series until a bad Tigers’ snap over the quarterback's head gave the Cavs the ball on the Tiger 23. Cav quarterback Max Bowman then threw a beautiful 25-yard touchdown pass to Peyton Sobosle, closing out the scoring at 33-14.

The Cavs will open district play next Friday at Lufkin.
