THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Sarah Piper (U17 ECNL) completed the Under-16 Girls’ National Team training camp Dec. 3-10 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA.

"It was really exciting to be back in the training-camp environment after being hurt for a while and missing a few," Piper said. "It's always a blessing to be coached by some of the best coaches and teammates in the country."

It was the sixth event of the year for this age group and its fourth domestic camp.

U.S. head coach Jaime Frias called up 24 players, all born in 2000. This specific age group is at the end of the second year of a two-year cycle before becoming the U-18s and then the U-20s with the goal of playing in the 2020 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup.

"We are happy Sarah continues to get opportunities to represent our country and play with the best," said Nick O'Shea, ECNL director of coaching at Texas Rush Soccer Club. "Sarah regularly engages in extra training throughout the year so it is nice to see that all her hard work does pay off."
