THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The votes are in for the 2nd Annual Lights of Hope outdoor lighting décor competition held at MainStreet America during its holiday event, Christmas on MainStreet. Nine Houston-area charitable organizations competed for the chance to win $10,000 in an outdoor lighting display competition, which was awarded to the organization with the most popular votes. Earlier today, Mike and Barbara Feigin, CEO and CFO of MainStreet America, presented a $10,000 check to New Danville, a self-sustaining, master-planned integrated community where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities can Live, Learn, Work and Grow emotionally, socially, and spiritually with their non-disabled peers. Runner-ups included Bridgewood Farms and My Person Foundation.

The Lights of Hope participants included: My Person Foundation, Houston Methodist Breast Care Center at the Woodlands, New Danville, Bridgewood Farms, JDRF, Interfaith of The Woodlands, HOPE, American Heart Association and Texas Children’s Hospital.

Nine of the 12 MainStreet America showcase homes were decorated in a theme reflective of the charities’ mission. Visitors to MainStreet America voted by donating a $1 or more. All donations were given directly to each of the participating charities. More than $35,000 was raised in support of the individual charities.

“Lights of Hope gives us the chance to help shine awareness on some well-known and lesser known charities during the holidays,” explained MainStreet America CEO, Mike Feigin, who started the event two years ago, with his wife Barbara. “We really love being able to put a spotlight on the good works that are done by so many wonderful organizations throughout the year. We look forward to hosting Lights of Hope again during our 2017 Christmas on MainStreet event.”

MainStreet America is open Monday – Saturday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. For more information about tickets or membership visit www.mainstreetamerica.com
