Quest for best sandwich in The Woodlands continues

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Happy New Year! My resolution, and you are all encouraged to join me, is to find the perfect sandwich in 2017. Don't get me wrong...we had a very successful Sandwich Search 2016 but I can feel it in my gut...my white whale of sandwiches is still circling me, taunting me with tantalizing toppings.

And at this time of year, when some of our friends are bracing for bitter cold weather while we eat outdoors in shorts and t-shirts, our sauce stains proudly displayed like combat medals, I can't help thinking that a quest is a great way to kickoff a year.

However, in the meantime, let's close out 2016 at my new favorite eatery on the water: the Local Pour in Hughes Landing. It offers beautiful views and great sandwiches. Today I tried the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich and oh my, what a choice! If you're looking for great flavor this is your kinda place. Sweet and spicy, cooked to perfection. Toss in some cilantro, sesame seeds and sriracha slaw and I'm left wondering if this place might just be the first stop on my 2017 voyage d'amour.

So, as we celebrate the close of 2016 and reflect back on the year, I invite you to cast your gaze to 2017's horizon and when the next beautiful day in The Woodlands beckons, put on your best tee and head over to Local Pour for a delicious sandwich and a cold beer on their patio.
