THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Skeen's family biggest holiday wish has been granted.

Lily Skeen has been matched with a bone marrow donor.

The 4-year-old has been battling leukemia for several months, and returned to Texas Children's Hospital Jan. 4 for her third round of chemotherapy.

Lily's father Daniel Skeen said the family enjoyed having her home for a few weeks in between rounds of chemo.

"We just had a good old time," Daniel said. "We played and played and played … really tore it up."

Lily's sister Maggie, 13, is a student at McCullough Junior High. Her brother, 10-year-old Forest, is a student at Mitchell Intermediate. Her mother Christel Skeen is a teacher at Mitchell Intermediate.

Lily will receive the bone marrow transplant after she recovers from her fourth round of chemo, slated for February or March. The donor lives in the Houston area, but remains anonymous.

"The process takes up to six weeks," Daniel said, "but when it's over, Lily will have bone marrow that doesn't produce cancer cells."

Lily, who has Down Syndrome, was diagnosed with cancer in September 2016.
