THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Jasper’s Restaurant was the place to be on February 6th when the Montgomery County Community Foundation (MCCF) celebrated their annual Gifts of the Vine fundraising dinner.

Jasper’s has hosted the event from the inception in 2011. The money raised from the event auction helps provide money for administrative operations so the permanent fund can continue to solely be available for grants and scholarships.

MCCF awarded 30 community grants and 9 scholarships in 2016 totaling $148,700. These grants have enabled 30 non-profits in Montgomery County to fund grant specific requests that might not otherwise have been funded.

“Jasper’s has enjoyed being part of The Woodlands community for over 12 years, and giving back through the Montgomery County Community Foundation has been a great way to show our appreciation,” noted Frank Santos, Jasper’s General Manager. “We close the restaurant for the evening to present this event and we love seeing guests from all over the county. Since MCCF donates scholarships and grants to a lot of non-profits, Jasper’s benefits by helping many different organizations though our one sponsorship!”

Shannon Kidd, Executive Director of MCCF noted, “Jasper’s sponsorship is an incredible blessing for us and enables MCCF to donate more funds towards our scholarships and grant requests. Our Distribution Committee works so hard to make sure the needs of the community are met within our interest groups.”

She continued, “ Montgomery County Community Foundation serves as an advocate for our county resources by supplementing the funding for those organizations who have a specific need. We are grateful for the continued funding and support that we receive from contributors who help to build our permanent fund.”

The mission of the Foundation is to provide leadership in Montgomery County by directing sustainable financial resources that strengthen our community.

The Foundation administers individual funds contributed or bequeathed to it by individuals, corporations, foundations, and other sources. The majority of these funds are held in a permanent fund used to enrich and enhance the quality of life in Montgomery County in perpetuity.

The Foundation's funds are professionally managed. An investment committee oversees all investments. Investment revenue is distributed as grants to non-profit agencies in the county and educational scholarships to local students.

Grants are awarded in a manner consistent with donors' specific and general interests. A distribution committee is given the responsibility of distributing the revenue. The committee is comprised of members with expertise in the Foundation's areas of interest: environment, health/wellness, youth, education, social services, public safety, senior citizens, civic affairs, cultural activities, recreation and the heritage of our county.
