THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- For the first time in school history, The John Cooper School varsity softball team beat Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) rival, Kinkaid, 2-1.

“Wow what a night! I am so proud of our team,” said Dragons head softball coach Nicole Hedden of the April 12 showdown.

On the mound, freshman pitcher Eryn Sanchez earned the win, throwing seven innings, surrendering one run, one hit, striking out nine, and walking one.

Offensively, sophomore Grace Stricker and junior Kaitlyn Harris each drove in a run to lead the Dragons.

“With the score 2-1 going into the seventh inning, the girls kept their composure and came out with a victory,” Hedden said. “I hope they can keep the momentum going for our next SPC game against Episcopal High School on April 18.”

The Dragons are 2-2 in conference play and 12-7 overall.
