THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Sheriff Rand Henderson welcomed Woodlands Online and other members of the media for a tour of Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

The tour included an in-depth walkthrough of the county jail – which can hold up to 1,253 inmates, including a new program titled VETS, or Veterans Embracing Tools for Success. For more information about this program, click here.

After walking the halls of the jail, media members toured the 911/Telecommunications Center and spoke with supervisor Denise Jimenez about her experiences and what it takes to be a dispatcher.

Media members were also able to speak with Montgomery County’s specialized units, including the SWAT Team, Crisis Negotiations, Homeland Security, CrimeStoppers, Crime Scene Investigations and the K-9 unit, represented by Booyah, an energetic Dutch Shephard.

Along with all the men and women behind the scenes at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, media members were able to see the many machines that help law enforcement officers do their job, including SWAT trucks, police boats, motorcycles and surveillance vans.

Woodlands Online will be featuring several Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office personnel and departments in the coming weeks in our Behind the Badge series.
