THE WOODLANDS, Texas---On Friday night Oak Ridge heads out to Deer Park to take on the Deer at Abshier Stadium.

The War Eagles are coming off a very convincing win at home against a sold Klein Forest team 45-14. You can read all about that game here. The last time these two met, the War Eagles were unable to complete a fourth-quarter comeback and lost 26-21 at home. Now, the War Eagles have a chance to rewrite history and earn a road win as they travel to Deer Park. A road victory for Oak Ridge could result in momentum as they prepare for district opponent Conroe on September 29.

So far through their 2 games, the War Eagles defense has been their bread and butter. Led by standout players Joseph Ossai and Malachi Cramm, the War Eagles have only allowed 21 points and 14 of those came in their last game against Klein Forest. This will surely be the toughest test for the War Eagles defense as Deer Park averaged 33 points a game last season. Quarterback Bishop Durst will continue to look for consistency to start his senior season as he has just not been in complete sync with his receiving core to start the year.

Deer Park has had a rough start to their 2017-2018 campaign as they are coming off heartbreaking losses to College Park and Pearland-Dawson to open the season. The Deer have lost their games by a deficit of 4 points combined.

This will be Deer Park’s home opener so they will have the home crowd behind them as they try to get their first win of the young season. Running Back Tre Diggles will be looking to carry this offense as they are still trying to figure out how to replace four seniors on the offensive line: quarterback, running back and top two receivers from 2016.

This is a very tough game to predict as both teams still haven’t found their rhythm on the offensive side of the ball. I feel though that even with the hostile crowd and the travel situation that the War Eagles could go into Abshier Stadium and steal one from the Deer. The War Eagles have the leadership on the defense that will keep the team from being overwhelmed by the home crowd, the hour drive to the stadium, and the fact that it’s Deer Park’s home opener. Expect Joseph Ossai and friends to dominate this young Offensive Line of Deer Park. War Eagles will surely take this one 30-10.
