CONROE, Texas -- The Conroe Tigers and the Oak Ridge War Eagles are set to clash this Friday night in the first district game of the season.

The Tigers, coming off a close loss to Brazoswood last week, are still looking for their first win of the season. This will not be an easy task however, as the War Eagles are 3-0 on the season, including two impressive blow-out wins.

This will be a big game for the Tigers offensive line. Going against a stout War Eagles defense, the team will rely on the blockers up front to set the tone early. Establishing the run game will be a major key to winning this game for the Tigers. War Eagles’ defensive linemen Joseph Ossai proved to be an absolute force in the first few games of the season. Keeping Ossai’s impact on the game to a minimum will be a top priority for the Conroe linemen.

The War Eagles defense has not given up more than two scores in their first three games. However, their offense has not been as consistent, especially in week two against Deer Park, in which their only touchdown was the result of a blocked punt. As district games begin and the competition level rises, Coach Derek Russ will need to find ways to create more opportunities on the offensive side of the ball.

Moorhead stadium should be electric for this match up as the Tigers are hungry for their first win of the season and the War Eagles look to avoid the loss column for the fourth week in a row.

Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at Moorhead Stadium.
