THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Coming off a forgettable road battle with West Brook last Thursday, College Park faces their next tough test against undefeated district foe Oak Ridge Friday Oct. 13 at Woodforest Bank Stadium.

Crosstown rivals will have a showdown Friday night

The Cavaliers are coming into this week 0-2 in district play and an overall record of 1-4. With the state playoffs right around the corner, the Cavaliers are itching for their first district win of the season.

Coach Lonnie Madison’s defense has been the Cavalier’s bright spot. With standouts Austin Fox, Adam Myers, Cooper Lucas, and Hayden Stark, the Cavaliers have a tough task ahead in Oak Ridge’s two-quarterback offense. Both Reinard Britz and Bishop Durst have taken snaps for this War Eagle offense and both have been rather productive, combining for eight touchdowns through the air.

On the other side of the ball, the Cavaliers have given Jake Hunnicutt the keys to the offense. The junior has accounted for nearly 500 yards this year in his first season as the starting varsity quarterback. Hunnicutt has found success finding big target, Peyton Sobosle, who has been the recipient of all his touchdown passes. The Cavaliers offensive line will be pinned against four- star defensive end recruit Joseph Ossai. With five sacks already on the season, Ossai will choose between Texas, Texas A&M, or Notre Dame to continue wreaking havoc on opposing quarterbacks.

The constant piece in the War Eagle’s two-quarterback system has been their receiving core. Senior Tanner Lacy and junior Darrius Jelks have combined for nearly 600 yards receiving and five touchdowns. Receiver turned cornerback Sebastian Cos has stepped in nicely for injured Hunter Whaley and will have Adam Myres on the opposite side to try to slow down the Oak Ridge passing attack.

With running backs Travis Washburn and Dane Vann both missing a certain amount of time in recent weeks, Coach Madison will look for Hunnicutt to expand his options and find his playmakers.

The College Park Cavaliers will face off against the Oak Ridge War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Friday Oct. 13 at Woodforest Bank Stadium. This Woodlands Online On Demand game is brought to you by The Woodlands Dental Group, with replays by Mr. Rooter Plumbing.
