The College Park Cavaliers will travel to Moorhead Stadium on Friday night for a district match up with the Conroe Tigers. College Park’s only victory last season came against the Tigers with a score of 38-35.

Coming off a 35-7 loss to Oak Ridge, the Cavaliers are eager for their first win in district play this year. Coach Lonnie Madison’s offense has had difficulty scoring in their last two games, being outscored 86-10 in those games. Junior quarterback Jake Hunnicutt has shown bright glimpses of how he can drive his offense down the field. With Dane Vann back from a concussion the Cavaliers’ backfield tandem of Vann and Travis Washburn is finally back and healthy.

Defensive standout Austin Fox will look to add to his team-leading tackles and sack numbers against Conroe’s stout offensive line. Fox has appeared on Woodlands Online Sports’ Player of the Year Watchlist three times this season, and currently sits at number 3. He and the Cavaliers defense will have to contain the Tigers leading rusher Donavan Lloyd. Conroe will try to give Lloyd somewhere around 30 touches, making the Cavaliers task to slow down the Army recruit more difficult.

Special teams for the Cavaliers has been productive throughout the season. Kicker/Punter Carson Mohr has attempted and made plenty of long distances field goals, while also serving as the team’s punter and pinning opposing teams in their own territory to give Cavaliers good field position. Returners Travis Washburn, Aaron Randle, and Roger Younger have all contributed to College Park’s kickoff return yardage totals.

As College Park will attempt to end their four-game losing streak, the Tigers will look to end a streak of their own, losing their last 11 contests dating back to last season. The Cavaliers will come into the game 1-5 overall and 0-3 in district, while Conroe sits at 0-5 overall and 0-2 in district. The game will be held at Moorhead Stadium on Friday Oct. 20, 2017 at 7:30pm.
