THE WOODLANDS, Texas— The War Eagles find themselves in the playoffs after losing three straight to end their season. They will travel to Mesquite to take on 9-1 Horn. The Jaguars are 11-6A champions after posting a 7-0 record in district.

After winning six in a row to open the season, the War Eagles quickly find themselves in a tough contest in the first round of the playoffs against a top 15 ranked Horn. Oak Ridge have had a huge senior season by Tanner Lacy to help their high scoring offense. Bishop Durst, Reinard Britz, and Blaine Romero have all started games for the War Eagles, throwing for 12 touchdowns total. While the passing game has been successful for Oak Ridge, the War Eagles have had nine different players score a rushing touchdown this year. Add in Darrius Jelks, who has over 400 yards receiving on the season, Oak Ridge’s offense has shown they can score on the best of them.

Coach Rush and his defense will have to slow down junior quarterback Jermaine Givens who has thrown for 23 touchdowns while adding another 18 on the ground. With players like Joseph Ossai, Malachi Cramm, and Brennan Young, who have combined for 120 tackles, Oak Ridge has the defensive talent to be able to upset Horn Friday night. Horn comes into Friday 9-1 overall and an undefeated district record.

The War Eagles will need a stellar performance to matchup with Horn and prevent their season from ending. Oak Ridge will travel to Mesquite to take on #13 ranked Horn on Friday, Nov. 18.
