Mischer Neuroscience Associates at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands welcomes Dr. Brian Fernholz

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Memorial Hermann Mischer Neuroscience Associates (MNA) – a comprehensive network of more than 100 affiliated neurosurgeons, pain management specialists and neurologists located throughout the Greater Houston area – is pleased to announce the addition of fellowship-trained spine surgeon Brian Fernholz, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Fernholz, who has special interests in the cervical spine and minimally-invasive lumbar spine surgery, will see patients at two locations: Mischer Neuroscience Associates-Northeast, located at Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital; and Mischer Neuroscience Center at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center, a new 25,000-square-foot center that houses the largest group of neuroscience providers in Montgomery County.

“Dr. Fernholz is a great doctor and a wonderful addition to our team in the north Houston area,” said Dong Kim, M.D., director of Mischer Neuroscience Institute at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and professor and chair of the Vivian L. Smith Department of Neurosurgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. “He is dedicated to providing exceptional care.”

After graduating cum laude from Rutgers University, Dr. Fernholz earned his Ph.D. at the Sackler Institute of Biomedical Sciences at New York University School of Medicine. He subsequently received his medical degree at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Rutgers University, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

During his residency training in neurological surgery at Rutgers University, he completed an enfolded fellowship in spine surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Weill Cornell Department of Orthopedic Surgery in New York City. He was chief resident at Rutgers University.

Dr. Fernholz has been recognized with many academic honors and awards, including induction into the Arnold P. Goldman Humanism Honor Society. He is also the co-author of numerous peer-reviewed publications.
