THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Fifteen students at The Woodlands Methodist School have qualified to compete against students from 27 Houston and surrounding-area schools in the ACSI Math Olympics.

One TWMS student, Connor Jones, received a perfect score for 5th grade reasoning. Connor is the only student in this category receiving a perfect score in the district competition. TWMS is one of the top five schools with the highest qualifying students.

“Our students did outstanding in the ACSI Math Olympics! The results confirm the strong academics and educational philosophy at TWMS,” stated Mr. Patton, TWMS Lower/Middle School Principal.

133 schools from the South-Central region (Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, and Kansas) participated in the competition, totaling 3,518 students.

ACSI promotes academic and creative competitions for Christian, private schools which includes math, creative writing, speech, art, music and spelling bee.

This is the first year TWMS competed in the ACSI Math Olympics. The final round will be early March.

Two Tons for Interfaith

More than two tons of food items have been donated to Interfaith of The Woodlands food pantry by The Woodlands Methodist School (TWMS) students. TWMS Student Council organized and collected food items throughout the month of December.

There was a competition between grade levels. 2nd grade won with 450 pounds of food for the lower school, and 7th grade won with 525 pounds of food for the middle school.

“I’m so proud of our students. The additional two tons of food items will help restock Interfaith’s shelves that tend to be sparse after Christmas,” stated Dr. Ann Snyder, Head of School.

The students are looking forward to defeating the two ton donation during the spring food drive.

The Woodlands Methodist School is a non-profit ministry of The Woodlands United Methodist Church, whose purpose is to reflect high values while providing the best care and quality education for children. Everyday classroom experiences at the school are interpreted in ways consistent with the Bible and Christian values — though children of all faiths are welcome — and are filled with hands-on learning experiences, creating a dynamic, Christian learning environment with high academic success.
