THE WOODLANDS, Texas—The first day of Spring brought a beautiful day for District 12-6A baseball. The Woodlands College Park Cavaliers hosted the Oak Ridge War Eagles Tuesday night for their first meeting of the season. The War Eagle’s offense got the best of the Cavaliers, winning 13-5 to move to 2-1 in district play.

With Logan Letney on the mound for Oak Ridge, the War Eagles were able to shut the Cavaliers down to only a single run until the bottom of the 4th inning. The TCU commit carried the War Eagles’ defense and walks away with a win on the mound and our Woodlands Online Player of the Game. College Park saw things open up when Luke Rosson cut the War Eagle lead to one after a huge RBI triple—bringing the Cavs back in the game.

The struggles continued for the Cavaliers in the 5th inning as pitcher Luke Trahan walked 3 batters in a five-run inning which extended Oak Ridge’s lead to 10-4. After two wild throws brought in two runners, a sac-fly by Austin Brown brought the final score to 13-5. Oak Ridge’s 19 runs over two games have propelled them against the district rivals College Park and The Woodlands.

Oak Ridge hands College Park their first district loss in 2018 and will host Lufkin on Friday night for a shot of first place in District 12-6A. The Cavaliers travel down Research Forest Drive on Friday night attempting to get back on track for a playoff push. Our live broadcast of tonight’s game was presented by Hal Watson Air Conditioning with replays presented by Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center.
