THE WOODLANDS, Texas – There's a lot going on this week in The Woodlands, from dancing to singing, eating to cheering – and a special event to officially welcome the new leader of Conroe ISD.

It's Family Night 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Monday April 23 at Chick-fil-A, 6543 FM 1488, and they're taking it back to the basics: food, family and old-fashioned fun. Grease the hair back, pull out the poodle skirt and shine your shoes for a 1950's Sock Hop.

It's a new event at a familiar place: Steak Night Tuesday is 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday April 24 at GenuWine, 6503 FM 1488. Dinner includes grilled steak, salad, two sides – and a featured wine to really please your palate. If you're not a wine drinker, no worries. GenuWine offers a wide range of craft beer. Call 832-934-2675 to book your table.

It's sad to see Dr. Don Stockton retire at the end of June, but exciting things are happening as Conroe ISD welcomes new superintendent Dr. Curtis Null, a 15-year veteran in the education industry – 13 of those years with CISD. Give him a warm Texas welcome as he embraces his new role at a reception 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Wednesday April 25 at Woodforest National Bank, 3101 W. Davis Street in Conroe.

It's week two of the Market Street Spring Concert Series. Check out The Slags 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Thursday April 26 for an evening of classic rock and pop music. The Slag is the official band of the Houston Texans. Simply bring your blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy the free show.

The Memorial Hermann Ironman North American Championship is Saturday April 28. It's not something you just sign up for a mere few days in advance, but you can certainly cheer on the athletes as they tackle a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile run.
