MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- Walgreens, NBC, and Comic Relief are partnering again this year on Red Nose Day. All funds go to help end child poverty. The Boys and Girls Club of Greater Houston is a direct recipient of Red Nose Day.

Funds raised by Red Nose Day make a difference in the lives of thousands of Houston children.

How can you participate?

A Red Nose can be purchased now through June 2 for $1.00 at Walgreens with all proceeds going to help end child poverty.

About the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Houston

  • 14 Clubs in the Greater Houston Area
  • 98% of those served are economically disadvantaged
  • 96% of those served are from minority groups
  • 66% of those served are from single parent homes

Summer Brain Gain

One key program that Red Nose Day funds is the Summer Brain Gain. The summer break can cause may children to fall behind in their reading skills. For low income children, summer vacation can cause even more academic damage as many children are already behind in their reading levels, ultimately endangering their chances for high school graduation. The Boys and Girls Clubs launched Summer Brain Gain to help children maintain the critical skills they have learned during the school year. The program boosts reading levels and confidence so children are more likely to stay in school, graduate, and be successful in life.
