THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Woodlands Township had a board meeting on May 23. Here are the top things you need to know.

Incorporation

The Woodlands has been undergoing Incorporation planning to become its own city. There have been many questions about this, and Alan Pennington is in charge of creating a website solely for the purpose of Incorporation frequently asked questions.

The website does not yet have a name but will be live no later than June 1, so every resident can learn about the process if they wish to vote for or against incorporation.

The board went through the three pages of questions already created for the website and discussed, clarified, and added information to ensure that residents would understand fully what incorporation was all about.

All of the information given on this website comes directly from the townships’ legal counsel to ensure it is correct and legal.

Right now, incorporation is set for spring of 2019 but there is a long way to go before then including verifying certain contracts will remain, dealing with resident concerns, and how they should proceed.

This was the second meeting on incorporation and the next meeting will take place June 21 at 4pm. As always, residents are encouraged to attend and speak their mind.

Community Voice

This meeting was advertised a month in advance for the community of The Woodlands to come and raise their concerns about things happening around them. Because of this, there were many speakers who had questions and wanted to know more about the incorporation.

Dr. Enrique Rosero, who also gave a public comment in the March 22 meeting, spoke about the law enforcement issue, saying some residents were not being treated in the manner that they should. He also asked what to do about shortcomings in the workforce and management of it.

Kent Mayor also spoke up about MUD. Currently, The Woodlands does not have control of it their water, but he claims that “if we incorporate, we need to take control of the water.” Right now, the water and sewage services are being provided to us by the San Jacinto River Services.

The board was eager to hear their experiences and wanted very much to know what they can improve on for the residents of The Woodlands.
