MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas -- Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands recently committed as the presenting sponsor of Children’s Safe Harbor fundraising luncheon to be held Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center.

Children’s Safe Harbor is a nationally-accredited children’s advocacy center whose mission is to reduce the trauma of child victims of sexual abuse, severe physical abuse, sex trafficking, and witnessing homicides and violent crimes. It serves children and their non-offending caregivers by facilitating a comprehensive, multidisciplinary team approach to intervention, investigation, prosecution and treatment within one location.

“We are extremely honored and proud to announce Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands is serving as the presenting sponsor of our luncheon,” said Victoria J. Constance, MSPH, Ph.D., executive director of Children’s Safe Harbor. “This is a very special year for us for many reasons. Not only are we marking our twentieth anniversary of promoting justice and healing, we are also embarking upon plans to build a larger facility to serve the ever-increasing number of cases that come through our doors, which is an unfortunate result of our county’s growing population.

“In addition, as we introduce our Know Us Before You Need Us campaign, we aim to increase awareness among the community about the proliferation of child abuse, warning signs, prevention information, and how to respond if abuse is suspected. This will be the first luncheon of its kind and we are encouraged by the support we have received from the community.”

Dr. Paul Sirbaugh, chief medical officer of Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands, added, “We are proud to sponsor this event and support Children’s Safe Harbor, the only organization in our surrounding counties providing this important service for these vulnerable children.”

Texas Children’s Hospital The Woodlands opened its doors in April 2017 and is the first free-standing hospital devoted to children’s care for communities north of Houston. Located in one of the fastest growing areas in north Houston, the hospital, which has a staff of more than 800, has already provided thousands of patients with specialty care closer to home.

Serving as the honorary co-chairs for the luncheon event are the Honorable Judge Lisa Michalk and her husband Dan Michalk.
