THE WOODLANDS, Texas--The Woodlands Highlanders, with an unbeaten record in District 15-6A, will host the Klein Bearkats Saturday 13 at Woodforest Bank Stadium. For the second week in a row, the Highlanders will look for a Saturday night win after defeating Klein Cain 54-7 last week.

The Highlanders defense continues to impress with their stingy style of play. Coach Jim Rapp’s defense hasn’t allowed more than 20 points during their four-game win streak. In last week’s win over Klein Cain, the Highlanders forced four turnovers that lead to scores, including a 65-yard interception return for a touchdown by Carter Doucet. The junior also recovered a Hurricane fumble last Saturday. The Highlander defense will have an intense district test this week as the Bearkats can put a significant amount of points on the scoreboard. Quarterback Bryce Corriston has led his team to three 50-plus point games this year and are currently on a two-game winning streak.

The offense for The Woodlands has started to find their stride in recent weeks. Junior running back Bryeton Gilford provides most of the groundwork for the Highlanders, rushing for 130 yards and a score in last Saturday’s win over Klein Cain. Gilford, ranking in the top 10 in Houston area rushers, has catapulted himself into the discussion of most productive backs in school history. A nice title to have from a school that has produced standouts like Patrick Carr (University of Houston) and Daniel Lasco (New Orleans Saints).
