THE WOODLANDS, Texas— Another Saturday night game for the Oak Ridge football, this week against District 15-6A opponent, Klein Cain. Last weekend’s game against Klein Oak didn’t go the way of the War Eagles, losing 35-20 to the Panthers. With their 34-7 victory today, Oak Ridge moves ahead of Klein Cain in the district standings.

Much like their district counterpart College Park last night against Klein Oak, the War Eagles opened the scoring on their first drive. It only took three plays on their first offensive drive for Senior quarterback Blane Romero to find Darrius Jelks for the score. Romero would fumble within their 20-yard line on their next possession, leading to a Klein Cain touchdown by Bryson Culton. The 2-yard run would be the Hurricanes’ only score of the evening.

Oak Ridge had troubles taking advantage of the excellent field position from the Hurricanes most of the first half until Adrian Murdaugh made something out of nothing with a 20-yard carry. Sitting inside the 10-yard line after the run, the War Eagles found the end zone a few plays later with a Romero pass to Kavon Townsend. Oak Ridge would add to their 14-7 lead before the end of the half with a 1-yard touchdown run by Harrison Smith.

Goal-line specialist Logan Letney added to his season rushing touchdown total, with a 1-yard run early in the second half. Romero and Jelks continued their successful first half of play with another connection for a score, this time for 31-yards. The two combined for over 100 yards and two touchdowns on the night.

The Oak Ridge War Eagles move to 3-5 overall on the season, 2-4 in district play. Klein Cain falls to 2-6 in their first full season of varsity football. Our Live Broadcast was brought to you by Texas Tiny Home Solutions with replays presented by RE/MAX The Woodlands & Spring.
