THE WOODLANDS, TX -- After last week’s loss to College Park, the Oak Ridge War Eagles are on the edge of missing the playoffs. The Ridge will need to win out to have a chance at a spot in the top four of District 15-6A. It won’t be an easy task as three of their four final games are against teams currently in the top five of the district standings.

The first challenge will be a home game on Thursday against district-leading Klein Oak. The Panthers will be bringing a dangerous offense into Woodforest Stadium led by the number three quarterback in the district, Montrell Bolton, and the number one receiver, Dwight McGlothern Jr.

Klein Oak averages about 28 points a game and has scored over 35 in their last two wins, so the Oak Ridge defense will have to improve their recent form which has given up 38 points a game in their last three.

As we all know by now, Oak Ridge’s strength on offense comes from their run game. The stable of QB Kavon Townsend and RBs Alton McCaskill, Adrian Murdaugh, and Kywon Morgan can break a game open at any moment.

In the 35-20 loss to Klein Oak last year, McCaskill ran for 117 yards and a TD on the Panthers defense. If there is increased production from the rest of the War Eagles rushers, Oak Ridge may be able to control more of the clock and make things interesting against the first-place Panthers.

Thursday’s game will be a live Woodlands Online broadcast sponsored by Memorial Hermann and Hal Watson Air Conditioning. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
