THE WOODLANDS, TX --College Park 78, Oak Ridge 52

It feels like all College Park knows how to do is win games in a dominant fashion. Since their last loss in December, the Cavaliers have gone on to win 15-straight games, 13-straight in district, and beaten their opponents by 15-plus points in 12 of those games. This latest win adds Oak Ridge to their list of district sweeps and clinches the District 13-6A Boys Basketball championship. The 2020-21 title gives College Park their sixth district championship.

Oak Ridge came out swinging and landed a couple of punches early in this game. The War Eagles led for most of the opening quarter while CP was still finding their rhythm. However, five quick points from Ty Buckmon (21 points) in the final minute of the quarter gave the Cavs the lead and took the wind out of Oak Ridge’s sails.

The second quarter was where College Park put their championship-quality skills on display and pulled away from the War Eagles. Leading the charge was the WOL Sports player of the game, Drew Calderon (17 points). Calderon had a nice fast-break dunk in the first quarter, his first of three on the night, but it was the second quarter where he began to heat up. Calderon scored just about every way possible, second-chance points, contact finishes at the rim, and from outside where he’s always a threat. This showing helped CP take a 15-point lead into the half and they never looked back.

At 13-0 in District 13-6A and the title race already wrapped up, College Park’s last regular-season goal remaining is an undefeated district run. Just two games, @ The Woodlands and vs Grand Oaks, stand in the way of a perfect district record. Woodlands Online will have both games streaming live on the site.

College Park (22-3 / 13-0) Next Game: @ The Woodlands - 2/9
Oak Ridge (11-14 / 5-8) Next Game: vs Grand Oaks - 2/9

Grand Oaks 55, Willis 48

An important win for the Grizzlies as they now sit alone in third place with two games to go. The sweep of the Wildkats means Grand Oaks could potentially eliminate their new rival Oak Ridge from playoff contention with a win next week.

Grand Oaks (12-12 / 6-7) Next Game: @ Oak Ridge - 2/9
Willis (2-23 / 0-13) Next Game: @ Conroe - 2/9

The Woodlands 61, Conroe 44

The Highlanders are locked into the two seed in District 13-6A, but the wins are still important as they try to get hot entering the playoff run. The win makes it four in a row for The Woodlands and they will attempt to keep their winning streak going while simultaneously snapping the losing streak to College Park next week. Brock Luechtefeld lead the team with 13 points in the win.

Conroe drops out of a tie for third and into a tie for fourth with Oak Ridge. A win and an Oak Ridge loss next week will lock the Tigers into a playoff spot. If not, their season finale with Oak Ridge will be a massive showdown.

The Woodlands (19-6 / 10-3) Next Game: vs College Park - 2/9
Conroe (8-14 / 5-8) Next Game: vs Willis - 2/9
