HUMBLE, TX -- The Woodlands Highlanders hosted the MacArthur Generals in the bi-district round of the UIL State Championship on Tuesday night. Both teams traveled to the neutral site of Atascocita High School to face each other to see who will move on to the area round.

MacArthur came out strong and maintained a brutal pace which The Woodlands matched and pushed at times. The Woodlands would struggle at the three-point line while MacArthur found the basket by attacking the paint. Shey Eberwein would score 10 for The Woodlands while Gary Rebolledo scored just five points for the Generals.

In the second both teams would once again push the pace and momentum but it was MacArthur who would post up 21 points to The Woodlands 16. Although The Woodlands would find their target from three-point range, they fell short and gave up the lead going into the half, 37-35.

The Woodlands would find their groove coming out of the locker room and shut down the MacArthur offense. They would hold MacArthur to just seven points and score 14 giving them the lead once again. This would also start the many fouls that would cause both teams to hit the line many times.

In the fourth quarter it was all about hitting those free throws. Shey Eberwein went to the line five times and hit all but one free throw. Aj Stephans would hit the line four times for MacArthur and go 5 for 7. He would also be the lead scorer in the fourth posting up 9 of the 23 points. This would give MacArthur the lead and eventually the win over The Woodlands. They would finish 67 to 60 which would be enough for them to move on to the area round to face Klein Collins.

Grand Oaks vs Westfield – 63-45
The Grizzlies win their first playoff game in school history and move on to the area round. Klein Oak will be Grand Oaks’ next opponent in their first area round.

College Park vs Nimitz – 67-66
The Cavaliers hold off Nimitz by one point to advance to the area round against Cypress Falls. Martez James was the bread winner in the game posting up 19 points while Aiden Buckman puts up 13 and Zane Cooper drains 12-points.

Conroe vs Benjamin Davis – 48-56
Conroe falls to Benjamin Davis in the bi-district round. Conroe was able to pull off some crucial victories in the district season but had a difficult time with the 14-6A district champions.
