HS Football Play of the Game: Oak Ridge War Eagles at Conroe Tigers - 9/29/17
CONROE, Texas -- Conroe ISD football is here and better than ever.
Long-time rivals Conroe and Oak Ridge open up 2017's district play on Friday, September 29 at Moorehead Stadium.
Both teams are coming off exciting road games against non-conference foes, but this hometown matchup could be an instant classic for local football fans.
In last year's debut, the War Eagles bulldozed the Tigers, winning 38-13 thanks to a hard-nosed ground attack led by former runningback Jimmie Moore IV, who finished with three touchdowns and 81 yards on 11 carries.
To compliment the stellar run game, current senior quarterback Bishop Durst completed 8-out-of-11 of his passes for 102 yards and a touchdown.
If Conroe coach Robert Walker and the Tigers want a chance at winning this fight, they are going to need to limit Durst's production and contain the War Eagle's explosive running core.
