Dr. Katherine (Kat) Cohn specializes in early childhood evaluation and intervention. She received her PhD in School psychology from the University of Houston and conducted graduate work in schools, outpatient clinics, and hospitals. She completed a pre-doctoral internship in clinical and pediatric psychology at Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine where she received specialized training across a variety of areas, both with healthy children and those with chronic/acute medical conditions. She then completed a post-doctoral fellowship in early childhood at Texas Children’s Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine, with a focus on evaluation and treatment of children aged 2-6. 

Clinically, Dr. Cohn is primarily focused on providing specialized, parent-focused intervention services (Parent Management Training- PMT) for young children aged 2-6 and their families. Dr. Cohn is an expert in the assessment and treatment of disruptive behavior, anxiety, ADHD, selective eating, sleep concerns, toileting difficulties, and coping with medical diagnoses/adherence to medical treatment regimens in this population. Dr. Cohn also has extensive training in clinical evaluation and behavioral intervention for young children with autism who have a receptive language level of approximately 3 years or older and mild to moderate behavioral difficulties H. Dr. Cohn works with some children and adolescents over the age of 7, with expertise in specific anxiety disorders (social anxiety, specific phobia, separation anxiety, illness anxiety, procedural anxiety), functional neurological disorder (FND), and feeding disorders. 

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Cohn is a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) and provides parent consultation regarding navigating the “alphabet soup” of the public school system- such as ECI, PPCD/ECSE, IEPs, ARDs, 504 plans, and more. 

Dr. Cohn is also passionate about community engagement and cross-disciplinary collaboration. She uses her network in the Houston area to facilitate the highest quality, individualized care for her clients and their families. She has focused a large portion of her training to gaining specialized supervision in the provision of services to Spanish speaking families, working with interpreters, and presenting to community audiences.
