That’s one giant fall back for mankind – Daylight Saving Time is about to go away for the umpteenth

THE WOODLANDS, TX – Spring forward, fall back; that’s the mnemonic for remembering how you set your clocks every six months for the duration of Daylight Saving (singular) Time. Since we’re in the fall, this Saturday night when you go to bed, set your non-smart devices (microwave clock, wall clocks, car dashboard clock, etc.) an hour earlier, and be sure your spouse knows so that the process isn’t double-dipped. Your phones and DVRs should handle the time chance on their own.

There’s a question if this is the last time we’ll be doing the DST tango; on March 15 of this year, the US Senate unanimously passed the Sunshine Protection Act, a bill that proposes that all states go on permanent Daylight Saving Time starting in November of 2023. States that have passed legislation for permanent DST will be allowed to enact their legislation.

However, the bill has yet to make it to the House of Representatives, and in today’s political climate there’s no telling when or if that might be. If and when the bill is passed in that chamber, it will end up on the President’s desk – whoever the President might be – to be signed into law. Until that day comes, if ever, prepare to keep springing forward and falling back.
