Entergy Texas was proud participate in this year’s International Lineman’s Rodeo, where two three-man teams, from Navasota, Texas, and The Woodlands, Texas, competed alongside top line workers from across the country and around the world.

This was the first year our linemen participated as a team in the competition. They were accompanied by an alternate, and two apprentices who competed individually.

The 41st International Lineman’s Rodeo was held at the National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame in Bonner Springs, Kansas. More than just a competition, the event celebrates the craftsmanship, precision, and teamwork that define the lineman profession. Each of our competitors demonstrated dedication, skill, and a safety-first mindset that powers communities every day.

Representing Entergy Texas this year were Byron Allison, Damarr Aultman, Lee Krumnow, Logan Larson, Jimmy Lopez, Pedro Buenrostro, Randy Reistino, and Sergio Rosas.

Damarr Aultman, journeyman for The Woodlands network, said the experience was both humbling and motivating.

“It was great to showcase what Entergy can do,” said Aultman. “For a lot of our guys, it was their first rodeo. There were plenty of coaching points around rules, regulations, and expectations. I always tell myself, prepare, present and perform. The more we do that, the better we’ll be next time now that we’ve got that experience under our belt.”

“It’s crazy how big of an event it is. There are more than a hundred poles set up for competition,” said Bryon Allison, lineman for the Navasota network. “We had a lot of nerves at first, but after we got through the first event, we picked up momentum and started having fun.”

The teams tackled a variety of events designed to test their technical skills, precision, and ability to perform safely under pressure. Allison said one of the toughest challenges was the dead-end bell event, which required competitors to swap out two bells on each side of a pole, under a tight time limit.

“A lot of things could go wrong in that event, but we stayed focused and worked together,” he said.

“Our linemen are the backbone of our reliability efforts,” said Frank Shannon, vice president of reliability for Entergy Texas. “They exemplify the skill, teamwork, and commitment to safety that define Entergy Texas. Watching them compete on an international stage and represent our company with such professionalism makes us proud.”
