How to Keep Your Eyes Healthy This Holiday

Woodlands Eye Associates would like to wish all a happy and safe holiday. More importantly, we would like to remind you to maintain your good vision health and habits during this joyous season.

One of the best gifts to give your vision and to maintain good eye health is a comprehensive eye exam. If you have noticed any changes in your vision, talk with one of our amazing doctors.

Cooler temperatures are sometimes the culprit for dry eyes. This can be prevented by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. If dry eye persists at night, a humidifier can help with comfort throughout the night. Rewetting drops can also help with comfort when your eyes feel irritated and itchy, especially when you are outdoors for a long period of time.

The holidays give us a chance to spend more time at home and away from our work stresses. This doesn't mean we rest our eyes from our digital devices. We tend to "catch up" on life during our downtime. We may be sending more emails to friends and family, shop online, or play more games on our tablets. This increased screen time can lead to headaches, eye strain, and neck pain. Follow the 20-20-20 rule to avoid these symptoms. Every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break and focus on something 20 feet away.

Good vision health is the gift that keeps on giving. Woodlands Eye Associates are ready to answer any of your questions.
